Catalunya MotoGP: Rea gets British GP test

Jonathan Rea will test Kenny Roberts’ Honda-powered KR212V at Cadwell Park on Wednesday.
The shakedown session has been hastily arranged to give the 20-year-old factory Honda British Superbike rider the chance to complete laps on the V4 machine before his appearance in the British GP on June 24.
Rea, who earlier today won the Suzuka 300km race with HM Plant BSB team-mate Ryuichi Kiyonari, will join Kenny Roberts Junior in Britain’s biggest motorcycle race later this month.
Team Roberts and Honda both wanted Rea to try the KR212V before Donington, so he will have at least ridden the bike before taking to the track with the likes of Valentino Rossi and Casey Stoner.
The Suzuka 300km race prevented him from being in Catalunya for a test session tomorrow.
Team Roberts’ manager Chuck Aksland told MCN: “He’s testing with his British superbike team at Cadwell on Wednesday and we really want to get him out on our bike just so he’s got a feel for it instead of going out for the first time in Friday practice at Donington.
”We don’t want to impact on his BSB test but we might be able to get him a few laps in the afternoon.
”Ten laps will be better than nothing just to give him a chance to get a feel for the bike.
“We are trying to sort something out but it looks likely it will happen.”
