Valencia MotoGP: Chaz Davies to brave pain in Valencia

1 of 1

British rider Chaz Davies will try and ride through the pain barrier tomorrow in a bid to take his place in the season’s final race in Valencia on Sunday.

The D’Antin Ducati team has confirmed tonight in Spain that the 20-year-old will attempt to ride in tomorrow morning’s third and final free practice session before making a decision on whether he can continue.

Davies suffered a small fracture in his right hand and a nasty blow to his lower back when he crashed heavily in this morning’s opening free practice session.
He was forced to miss this afternoon’s second session while he underwent precautionary scans in a Valencia hospital on his back.

He said: “It’s a shame I crashed this morning because I had a good feeling with the bike and was going well. The crash was my fault because on my out lap I went a bit slow and when I tried to force the pace coming onto the straight the rear tyre was still cold and the traction control wasn’t able to compensate so I was launched up. I’ll try and ride tomorrow and hope I’m not in too much pain because my hand and back are hurting pretty bad.”
