Misano MotoGP: Dani Pedrosa to switch to Bridgestone

1 of 1

Dani Pedrosa will make a sensational switch to Bridgestone tyres from the Indianapolis GP onwards.

And the Spaniard, who has been the biggest critic of Michelin’s in recent weeks, could even test Bridgestone tomorrow (Monday) at the Misano circuit.

Bridgestone confirmed to MCN this morning it receieved a formal request from both Dorna and Honda for the triple world champion to move, as his patience with Michelin snapped after a dire performance in Brno earlier this month.

Final negotiations for the shock deal are currently being finalised in the Misano paddock, and an announcement is expected later on today or early tomorrow.

No request was made by Honda or Dorna to get Bridgestone tyres for American Nicky Hayden, and Bridgestone confirmed the request was only for Pedrosa.

Bridgestone has also confirmed that a request had been submitted for Pedrosa to test the tyres tomorrow in readiness for his debut in Indianapolis on September 14.

Pedrosa formally requested to Honda management to switch to Bridgestone immediately after his 15th place finish in Brno. But most thought he would have to wait until the 2009 season. HRC President Masumi Hamane also revealed to MCN in Brno that he had been behind a move to withdraw Pedrosa from the Brno GP.
