Loris Capirossi confirms Germany participation

Loris Capirossi has declared himself fit to compete in this weekend’s German GP at the Sachsenring.

The veteran Italian is still recovering from a broken right hand he suffered last month in Catalunya, and a puncture wound in his right arm he collected when a footpeg pierced his skin in a 140mph high-side during practice for the Dutch GP.

But having missed the last two races, the triple world champion has today confirmed he will be fit to return to his factory GSV-R in Germany.

A team spokesman said: “Loris has declared himself fit for this weekend. He knows his own body better than anybody and he has gone through all the checks.

“He has had a lot of bad luck the last couple of races but wants to put that behind him now.”

Had Capirossi not been fit to ride this weekend, it was rumoured that Suzuki had lined up Alstare Suzuki World Superbike rider and German favourite Max Neukirchner to ride the GSV-R.

Suzuki though has denied any talks with Neukirchner, and he will not be on standby in case Capirossi pulls out of the Sachsenring event.
