Jerez MotoGP reaction: Danny Webb suffers hand injury

1 of 1

British teenager Danny Webb has had four stitches inserted in a nasty cut on the wedding ring finger of his left hand after he crashed out of today’s Spanish 125GP in Jerez.

Webb was dicing with Joan Olive when he lost the front at the final corner on lap nine.

It was initially feared he had broken his left wrist after he walked away clutching his arm, but he has been given the all-clear after checks in the circuit medical centre.

A spokesman for Webb’s Dutch-based Aprilia squad: “He thought he had broken his wrist but the X-rays have shown nothing. He did cut the wedding ring finger on his left hand badly though and he’s had some stitches put in that.

”He will be fine for Estoril. He is a bit frustrated because it was his fault but he is happy because his lap times were good and he was moving forward.”
