Motegi MotoGP: Simoncelli takes 250GP win

1 of 1

Marco Simoncelli took his fourth 250GP win of the season at the Twin Ring Motegi ahead of championship rival Alvaro Bautista.

Simoncelli started to break away from the following pack but was chased down by Julian Simon, and then Bautista.

In catching up to Simoncelli Bautista broke Shinya Nakano’s lap record several times. Bautista’s work was to be undone when the leading pair caught up with back markers.

The back markers were enough for Simoncelli to open up a big enough lead from Bautista to take the race win.

Alex Debon used the slipstream of Bautista to pass Repsol KTM rider Julian Simon to deny him any chance of getting his first ever 250GP podium.
