Colin Edwards hails impressive Casey Stoner

American Colin Edwards has hailed the current form of Ducati star Casey Stoner after the Australian’s dominant victory in the season’s opening race in Qatar.

Stoner humbled reigning world champion Valentino Rossi by close to eight seconds with a brilliant ride in the 22-lap floodlit race earlier this week.

Texan Edwards made a bright start to the new season with an encouraging ride to fourth place after he’d slipped to ninth on the opening lap.

But he admitted that Aussie Stoner’s riding is making him virtually untouchable at the moment, with the 2007 world champion completely dominant during winter testing too.

Monster Tech 3 Yamaha rider Edwards told MCN: “Somebody needs to put something in his drink. He needs to be sitting on the toilet instead of being out on the track. Man, I don’t know what they feed him over there, but he is on another planet.

“He’s always impressive in Qatar, well he’s impressive everywhere, but it is like give us all a chance. Hats off to him because he is riding his ass off but you can’t help come in and look at the times and go me getting to those times is not going to happen.”
