Randy de Puniet has confirmed to MCN that he is in talks about a ride in the Monster Yamaha Tech 3 squad for 2010.
The French rider is one of several contenders vying for a slot in Herve Poncharal’s squad, with Hector Barbera and Chris Vermeulen also linked with Tech 3.
Current riders Colin Edwards and James Toseland both want to stay, while Yamaha will move Ben Spies to Tech 3 if the Texan wants to in 2010.
LCR Honda rider de Puniet confirmed he is locked in talks with Poncharal and current team boss Lucio Cecchinello for 2010.
The British MotoGP podium finisher told MCN: “My manager is speaking with Lucio and Herve but at this moment nothing is clear. He’s been talking with Lucio for the last three races to continue in this team with a better bike from Honda. With a better bike I’m sure I could fight in the top five. But sure the Yamaha looks like a very strong package and this could be a good option.”
