Catalunya MotoGP: Rossi takes win with last lap masterclass

Fiat Yamaha rider Jorge Lorenzo was denied a win at his home Grand Prix after Valentino Rossi showed why he his world champion with an amazing final lap battle.

From the beginning of the race Rossi, Lorenzo and Casey Stoner broke from the rest of the riders, but the pace was too quick for Stoner, who soon dropped of from the Fiat Yamaha duo.

On the final lap it looked like Lorenzo was set for victory after several attempts from Rossi to take first place, but Rossi dived up the inside of the young Spaniard at the final corner and managed to hold on to the lead till the line.

Britain’s James Toseland could not replicate his fine form from the previous round and could only manage to finish in 13th place.
