Valentino Rossi confident for Jerez test

Reigning MotoGP world champion Valentino Rossi is confident he will end his winter testing campaign on a high at the Jerez circuit in Spain this weekend.

The Italian has yet to top the timesheets in a winter test session so far and was hammered by 2007 world champion Casey Stoner by over a second last time out at the night test session in Qatar.

Rossi was over a second slower than the Aussie in the Middle East but the 30-year-old is confident he will be much more competitive in Jerez.

The Fiat Yamaha rider told MCN: “I expect to be very fast in Jerez because I was fast there last year and in fact the quickest. The bike is different compared to that test in November and in Jerez there is a lot of tight hairpins, so it will be interesting because we have worked a lot on the acceleration out of slow corners. It is the last test and we have to confirm all the settings and be ready for the first race in Qatar.”
