Ducati try cast ally chassis at Jerez

Before their revolutionary carbon ‘stressed airbox’ chassis has even raced, Ducati arrived at the Jerez preseason test with another new idea, the cast aluminium version!!

Ducati aren’t saying anything official but Casey Stoner was given a sneak preview of the new chassis by Ducati Corse technical chief Filippo Preziosi on Saturday morning.  By saturday afternoon it was on track in a test bike ridden by regular test rider Vitioriano Guareschi. The bike has been kept under wraps all morning and made its debut unannounced. 

Cast aluminium seems a simpler way to use the stressed airbox idea on streetbikes but it is not known why Ducati have decided to try the idea so soon on their top racebike.
