Suzi Perry: James Toseland's MotoGP exit 'hugely disappointing'

Suzi Perry reckons James Toseland’s MotoGP departure is ‘hugely disappointing’ for British race fans.

The 28-year-old will make a swift return to WSB to try and reclaim the title he last won in 2007 after he was dropped from the Monster Yamaha Tech 3 squad recently.

Texan Ben Spies will join fellow American Colin Edwards in the Tech 3 squad next year, leaving British fans with no UK talent to cheer on in 2010.

And BBC MotoGP host Perry said the loss of Toseland from MotoGP was also a big blow for the BBC, which has a contract with Dorna to screen the premier class world championship until the end of 2013.

She told MCN: “We are hugely disappointed that James wont be a part of the MotoGP paddock next year and I am annoyed that things haven’t gone his way.

“From a broadcasting point of view, he has been a star and always a joy to work with. James having to find a ride in World Superbike only highlights the fact that there aren’t enough rides available in MotoGP. Even though he didn’t have a great year with Tech 3, the premier satellite team, there should have still been a place for him on the grid with another set up.

“As a British broadcaster, having a British face is vital and JT fitted the brief perfectly. It’s a shame for British MotoGP fans but I am sure he will get a rapturous welcome from the World Superbike gang, and rightly so.”
