Tech 3 confirm Mattia Pasini Moto2 talks

Tech 3 Yamaha boss Herve Poncharal has confirmed his interest in 125 and 250GP race winner Mattia Pasini as a top option for the new Moto2 600cc world championship in 2010.

The French team will run two bikes in the 250GP two-stroke replacement class next season alongside its MotoGP effort.

Several riders including current Gresini Honda MotoGP duo Toni Elias and Alex de Angelis have been linked with a Moto2 switch with Tech 3.

But Poncharal has also held talks with Pasini, who has tested for Ducati’s MotoGP squad in 2009.

He told MCN: “I’ve had a few conversations with Mattia. He has an interest, especially when (Marco) Simoncelli, (Alvaro) Bautista, (Hector) Barbera and (Hiroshi) Aoyama are leaving the 250 championship.

“If you take those four guys out then the next best is Pasini, so I’ve got to check on the possibilities with him.”

MCN understands that Elias could decide on his plans this weekend, with the Spanish rider a top target for Tech 3.
