Australia MotoGP: Casey Stoner not worried by title fight

1 of 1

Home favourite Casey Stoner says the MotoGP title fight between Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo is of little concern to him as he chases a third straight victory in Phillip Island on Sunday.

Stoner’s return to action after a three-race mid-season sabbatical means he is likely to play a major role in the outcome of the title scrap between Fiat Yamaha team-mates Rossi and Lorenzo.

But the 23-year-old, who claimed a stunning second place in the recent Estoril GP to take crucial points away from Rossi, says is more focused on beating Dani Pedrosa to third place in the standings.

Stoner trails Pedrosa by three-points with three races remaining and he said: “I’ve got my own team and my own results to get.

“It’s their fight and it I get in the middle of it then fine, but I’ve got my own battle to worry about to get third in the world championship.

“There won’t be any giving up of a position to help somebody else. I’m fighting for third and for Dani and me, it is our own championship within a championship and we’ll see what happens.”
