Honda waiting on Scot decision for 2010

Honda is still willing to prop up the MotoGP grid with a seven-pronged attack on next year’s world championship.

A deadline for the cash-strapped Scot Honda squad to confirm it would lease an RC212V expired last Saturday in Malaysia, with no confirmation from the team of its 2010 plans.

But Honda bosses are willing to extend the deadline, with Alex de Angelis desperately trying to raise funding to clinch the Scot berth.

His current Gresini Honda team-mate Toni Elias is also locked in talks with Scot having denied he’s signed a deal to move to a new Moto2 team run by Sito Pons.

A Honda spokesman said: “The deadline passed on Saturday and although now it is very tight, we can still supply a bike if they have the funding.”
