Hiroshi Aoyama’s Interwetten Honda MotoGP squad has announced it will also contest the new Moto2 600cc four-stroke world championship in 2010.

The new squad will run former world 125GP champion Thomas Luthi on a bike supplied by Japanese tuning specialists Moriwaki.

Swiss rider Luthi said: “I can’t wait to test the machine for the first time. When it arrived to the workshop in Germany my mechanics called me and started the bike, so I could hear the sound.

“That was like music in my ears! As soon as we have all the parts together I will travel to Solingen and try it out.”

The machine impressed Terrell Thien, team manager of the Interwetten Moriwaki Moto2 Team: “It is a beautiful motorcycle; the whole finish of the bike is impressive.”

Fausto Gresini’s Moto2 squad will also run Moriwaki bikes in the 250cc two-stroke replacement class.

Herve Poncharal’s Tech 3 squad is another MotoGP team entering the Moto2 class, which is expected to have a huge field of 39 riders competing when the 2010 season gets underway in Qatar on April 11.

Scott Redding, the youngest rider in history to win a Grand Prix, is the lone British entrant in the class after he signed a deal with the new Marc VDS squad run out of Belgium.
