Valentino Rossi treated for appendix problem

Valentino Rossi won’t require surgery after undergoing treatment for an inflamed appendix in Italy yesterday (Thursday).

The nine-times world champion, who is bidding for a third successive MotoGP crown in 2010, needed hospital treatment in Pesaro after complaining of severe abdominal pain.

But he has been discharged without the need for surgery and with rest and medication is expected to be fit to participate in a schedule two-day test session for Ferrari’s Formula One team in Catalunya next week.

Rossi’s condition will be constantly monitored over the next few days in case of a relapse ahead of his planned return to MotoGP action when winter testing resumes on February 4-5.
