Aspar to switch to Suter Moto2 chassis

Jorge ‘Aspar’ Martinez’s Moto2 squad will switch to a Suter MMX chassis for the remainder of the 2010 world championship.

The Spaniard will ditch current chassis supplier RSV after an indifferent start to the inaugural Moto2 series, which features a tweaked production Honda CBR600RR motor.

Reigning world 125GP champion Julian Simon and French rider Mike di Meglio will test the Suter frame in Albecete this week ahead of the French GP in Le Mans on May 23.

Aspar has opted to take the costly decision to buy Suter chassis after hitting problems with the RSV in the opening two races of the season.

The RSV project is not only cumbersome weighing in at close to 10kg heavier than its rivals, but it has also been struggling for top speed with aerodynamic issues.
Simon is already trailing series leader Shoya Tomizawa by a massive 37-points with only two races completed while di Meglio has failed to score a point in Qatar and Jerez.

Ironically, Simon and di Meglio did test the Suter chassis in the winter before opting for the RSV frame.
