Valentino Rossi tests at Motorland Aragon

Reigning world champion Valentino Rossi has been riding a production Yamaha R1 to familiarise himself with the new Motorland Aragon circuit in Spain today.

The new track will host its first MotoGP race next week having been drafted onto the calendar as replacement for the cancelled race scheduled to take place at the Balatonring in Hungary.

Riders are permitted to test at a Grand Prix circuit providing they don’t use their race machinery.

Rossi’s Fiat Yamaha team-mate Jorge Lorenzo also tested an R1 recently to check out the Motorland Aragon circuit while Aleix Espargaro and Nicky Hayden have also ridden at the new track.

The Motorland Aragon race takes place on September 19 before three successive flyaway races are staged in Japan, Malaysia and Australia.
