Shoulder boost for Dani Pedrosa

Dani Pedrosa said he was thrilled to have completed this week’s three-day Sepang test without any major problems with the left shoulder injury that wrecked his 2010 MotoGP title bid.

Pedrosa badly damaged his left collarbone when he was the innocent victim of a throttle failure with his factory Honda RC212V machine during practice for last October’s Japanese Grand Prix at the Twin Ring Motegi.

The Spaniard has spent most of the winter resting his shoulder back to near full fitness and he was in fast form throughout the Sepang test this week.

Fastest on the second day, Pedrosa ended second overall on combined times with a best of 2.00.770 just 0.013s away from Marco Simoncelli.

The triple world champion though appeared most happy with the state of his shoulder having subjected it to a tough examination in the extreme Malaysian heat and humidity.

Pedrosa said: “In general the test was good and I’m happy because the most important thing was to prove my shoulder was recovered and I felt quite a big improvement from the last two races of 2010. This is something really positive because I was quite worried about it. I have to work a lot to improve the strength and stability but the numbness and cramps are gone. I did a long run to check my arm and it was quite good. This is the biggest good news I could have.”
