Dani Pedrosa unsure of Assen return

Dani Pedrosa is unsure whether he will be fit to return to MotoGP action in Assen later this month.

The Spaniard hasn’t raced since he broke his right collarbone in a controversial collision with Italian rival Marco Simoncelli during last month’s French Grand Prix at Le Mans. He declared himself unfit to compete in his home round at Catalunya and last weekend’s Silverstone race and is still a major doubt for the Holland clash at Assen.

Mystery and intrigue continues to surround Pedrosa’s absence, particularly considering the fact that Colin Edwards finished on the podium at Silverstone, just nine days after he broke his right collarbone in seven places at Catalunya.

Rumours that Pedrosa damaged the collarbone again while training on a supermoto bike have spread like wildfire but strongly denied by HRC.

Honda has also brushed off suggestions that Pedrosa will not race again in 2011.

Writing on his usual Monday blog for Repsol, the triple world champion said: “I’d love to know if I can be in Assen or not, but it’s something I don’t know yet. The recovery is somewhat slower than anticipated. Assen is still a week ahead and I do not know how I will be in a few days. I’m doing everything I can to recover and I am following the medical advice 100 per cent.”
