British rider Cal Crutchlow has completed his first laps on board Yamaha’s new YZR-M1 1000cc MotoGP machine in Valencia today.

The 26-year-old waited for small damp patches to dry out before he ventured out on to the Ricardo Tormo Circuit 40 minutes after the pitlane opened at 10am local time.

Italian Andrea Dovizioso, who finished in third place in the 2011 world championship for Repsol Honda, has joined Crutchlow for the first time but he is currently circulating on the old 800cc YZR-M1.

The Coventry rider is using full Monster Yamaha Tech 3 livery on the new machine and he has set a best time 1.34.951 in his first 30 laps.

Spaniard Dani Pedrosa is currently top of the timesheets with a 1.32.939, which is 0.574s clear of Repsol Honda team-mate Casey Stoner on the new RC213V machine.
