British MotoGP: Espargaro takes maiden pole

Spaniard Pol Espargaro has taken the first Moto2 pole position of his career at Silverstone in a windy qualifying session.

Brit Scott Redding spent the majority of the session at the top of the timesheets, with Espargaro at the top, but struggling in the final sector. Espargaro went top with a lap of 2’08.011, six tenths faster than Redding.

Andrea Iannone took second position at the end of the session, pushing Redding back to third.

Tech 3 rider Bradley Smith will start from the front of the second row in fourth position ahead of title hopeful Marc Marquez.
