Le Mans MotoGP: Marquez on pole despite crash

Championship leader Marc Marquez has taken his third pole position in a row at Le Mans despite crashing with 25 minutes of the session remaining.

The rain started to fall with five minutes of the session remaining leaving Marquez safe at the top of the timesheets.

Swiss rider Thoas Luthi and Spaniard Pol Espargaro complete the front row.

Brit Scott Redding will start the race from the front of the second row in fourth onboard the Marc VDS Kalex machine.

Tech 3 rider Bradley Smith appeared frustrated as he was unable to match the pace of the front runners. Smith will start from 19th on the grid. Gino Rea qualified 24th. Rea has now switched from a Moriwaki chassis to a Suter chassis in an attempt to turn his season around.
