Moto2 Argentina: Tito Rabat makes it three from three at Termas de Rio Hondo

Tito Rabat has taken pole position in the Moto2 race for tomorrow’s race, with an unusual session leaving him 0.1 ahead of Johann Zarco but with many of the title favourites scattered across the grid.

Xavier Simeon finishes off the front row, another 0.077 back, and winner last time out Maverick Vinales is fourth, leading a second row of Folger and Salom.

But with only 2.3 seconds separating the entire 34 rider field, many frontrunners will start from unusual grid positions. Takaai Nakagami is 10th, Jordi Torres 11th, Mika Kallio 14th, Nico Terol 25th and Thomas Luthi 27th.

Sam Lowes will start from back in 22nd, riding injured after a crash half way through the session that brought out the red flags. The World Supersport champion crashed and got tangled up in his Speed Up bike, with the foot peg injuring his leg. He was able to restart, though, and improved his time to move forwards 6 places.

“It was one of those sessions. We’ve been improving the bike all day, and I did my best lap on the last lap on well used tyres. We can improve a little more in warmup and go from there. This far down here isn’t ideal, but we’ve seen people go from 30th to top ten in Moto2 all the time, so I’m still confident.”

Gino Rea will start from 27th.
