Catalunya Moto2: Rabat cruises to victory

1 of 1

Rabat extended his Moto2 championship lead with a dominant victory at Catalunya today.

The Spaniard started from pole position and after early challenges from team-mate Mika Kallio and Maverick Vinales pulled away to win by 4.244 seconds. Vinales finished second.

Kallio was unable to maintain the pace from early in the race, falling back to finish fourth after a late charge from Johann Zarco saw the Frenchman take the final step on the podium.

Brit Sam Lowes failed to finish the race, crashing out of 13th place at the end of the first lap. Fellow Brit Gino Rea finished 22nd.
