Lowes sits out day two with mystery injury

Takaai Nakagami was again fastest on day two of Moto2 testing at Jerez, topping the timesheets by a slim 0.015 from Swiss rider Thomas Luthi and former Moto3 world champion Sandro Cortese.

However, world supersport champion Sam Lowes, who finished third on day one of the test, was forced to sit out day two after a problem with a tendon in his right wrist flared up, leaving him in too much pain to ride.

“I woke up with a strange pain in my wrist and it was pretty sore, so I got looked at in the Clinica Mobilia, who found a problem with the tendon in my right wrist. It was a frustrating day not being able to ride, especially as yesterday was mint, but I’ll try to ride tomorrow and if not I’ll just rest til Qatar.”

Gino Rea finished the day in 22nd, improving his bike but suffering with increased pain in the foot he broken last month at Valencia.

The test, and 2014 pre-season testing all together, concludes today with a final day for the Moto2 and Moto3 riders.
