Brits on form in thrilling FP3

Cal Crutchlow laid down a marker in this morning FP3 session with the LCR Honda rider second fastest behind Marc Marquez and guaranteeing his place in the second qualifying session this afternoon. Marquez ended the session two tenths faster but the pace of Crutchlow will give the reigning champion cause for concern ahead of qualifying.

Crutchlow, using a new chassis this weekend, will be joined in the QP2 session by fellow Brits Bradley Smith and Scott Redding who also comfortably finished in the top ten after the combined times from the opening three session.

The Yamaha’s worked well in the dry sessions with Lorenzo, Rossi, Smith and Pol Espargaro all finishing inside the top six.

Andrea Iannone was surprisingly outside the top ten and will be joined in QP1 by fellow factory runner Maverick Vinales.
