Lowes lines up for home pole

1 of 1

Sam Lowes will start his home Grand Prix tomorrow at Silverstone from pole position, after an impressive session that saw him first run out of fuel and have to push home his Speed-Up machine before returning to track for a second go.

And with an unfortunate session for not one but two of his main rivals – after Tito Rabat highsided out and took Dominique Aegerter with him – Lowes was able to make the top spot his own from Alex Rins and title leader Johann Zarco.

Rabat, who will start tomorrow’s race with heavy bruising to his right knee, was fourth, ahead of Thomas Luthi and Taakai Nakagami.
