MotoGP recap: Round 2 - Americas

1 of 1

Marc Marquez overcame a technical failure on his bike in qualifying to take a dramatic pole position in Texas. The lap was arguably the best that we’ve ever seen from the Spaniard. He was fired up and rode with such determination that every corner was on the ragged edge and on the verge of a crash. It was a lap that could only have been achieved by Marquez and set him on the way to his first win of the year.

Andrea Dovizioso was once again second at the flag with the Ducati rider enjoying a consistent start to the campaign. Valentino Rossi was third but maintained his title lead.

Behind the leading riders Bradley Smith had a superb weekend that was capped off by sixth at the flag. After a difficult season opener in Qatar Smith looked comfortable all weekend and was ten second adrift at the flag in an impressive performance.
