Smith looking forward to Germany

One year ago Bradley Smith was a man under pressure. He was enduring a miserable MotoGP campaign and it looked for the world that he was on his way out of Tech3 and possibly the championship. The German Grand Prix was his lowest point with five crashes in a disastrous weekend.

Fast forward to now and Smith is riding the crest of a wave. He’s confident, fast, poised and controlled on the bike and he is letting his results do the talking for him. Assen was a disappointing race for him, finishing seventh when he felt that there was the potential for much more, but overall the opening half of 2015 has been hugely successful for him.

When asked what he expects from next weekend’s race at the Sachsenring Smith laughed and said “hopefully it’ll be better than last year!” before continuing:

“It will be nice to turn up there with 12 more months’ experience under my belt,” said Smith. “I have quite good pace around there. I think we’ll struggle a little bit just because Suzuki seem to be pretty good on that style of track. They have really good edge grip. Ducati will be particularly strong on that style of track. Honda we know have a very good winning record around there. So we have to go there a little bit with an open mind and see what actually happens. I know that Bridgestone already are bringing a few different options of tires than they’ve brought in the past, which fingers crossed will work a little bit better with our bike.”

Smith also had his first experience of the Suzuka 8 Hour machine that he’ll ride for the Factory Yamaha squad later this month.
