Fresh doubts of Czech race, ticket sales suspended

1 of 1

The future of the Czech Grand Prix look bleak after tickets for August’s race were officially suspended by the Brno circuit. With policital infighting in the Czech Republic about who should pay for hosting the race, local government or the circuit, it seems that no settlement has been reached. A final decision will be made next Monday but as things stand the prospects of racing at the popular track look to be diminishing.

The race organisers have said throughout the last year that the future of their round of the MotoGP championship has been doubt because they couldn’t raise enough funds to cover the organising costs. There has been plenty of wrangling between the circuit and the local government throughout the year about the amounts that both needed to pay to pay the sanctioning fees to Dorna for the races and it seems that these have now come to a head. The race fee paid to Dorna costs over €2 million.

For any fans that have bought tickets the race organisers have pledged to refund all costs should the race be cancelled.

In May Dorna said that they wanted the situation to resolved in early June but it seems that Monday will now be decision day for the Czech GP.
