Folger fastest from Zarco in Malaysia

Jonas Folger led the way in the opening Moto2 practice session of the day with world champion Johann Zarco narrowly edged out by the German. The gap of 0.048s showed that it was competitive at the front of the pack but with half a second to Thomas Luthi, Mika Kallio and Axel Pons the gap to the rest of the top five was significant.

This was another impressive showing from Pons who had a strong weekend in Australia before a jump start left him as an afterthought in the race. Sam Lowes was 12th fastest with the Englishman one second off the pace.
