Kent fastest in final practice, Oliveira third

Danny Kent shrugged off his crash yesterday by saying to MCN that he was confident that he had a setting that worked at Sepang. In final practice he proved this by setting the pace from Niccolo Antonelli by one tenth of a second. Kent’s title rival, Miguel Oliviera was third fastest and two tenths of a second off the pace.

There was a sizeable gap from the top three to the rest of the field with Jakub Kornfeil half a second off the pace but with the top 13 within a second of the fastest time it’s clear that qualifying could be very competitive this afternoon.

John McPhee had a sizeable highside and limped away from the crash and could only complete six laps. The Scot was 23rd fastest.
