Toni Elias will replace Claudio Corti at Forward Racing for the remainder of the 2015 MotoGP season. The Spaniard, who replaced an injured Karel Abraham, earlier this year will race alongside Loris Baz on the Open Yamaha.

Forward has had a turbulent time this year, including sitting out two Grand Prix, but the team has confirmed to MCN that they are on a much surer footing financially for the rest of the year and have fewer concerns for the remainder of the year with the legal proceedings against team principal, Giovanni Cuzari, looking set to be clarified this week.

When the news was announced about Elias Cuzari said:

“We are delighted to welcome Toni Elias to our team for the rest of the season, five races to go, two of which are in Spain,” commented the Italian. “We are proud to have a former World Champion riding the Yamaha Forward for the remaining 5 races. Special thanks to Claudio, who has always been close to Forward Racing, and has stayed with us in the past few races putting himself fully at the team disposal.”

For Elias the return to MotoGP comes at a good time with the former Moto2 world champion having been linked to rides in British and World Superbikes.

“I can’t be happier to be back racing in MotoGP,” said Elias. “This year I was already on track at Indianapolis but only for one race, with Forward I get the chance to finish the season. I wish to thank Giovanni and the whole team for this great opportunity. The goal is to work hard and enjoy the ride: the results will come. I am very motivated and enthusiastic”.
