Moto2 title in touching distance for Zarco

1 of 1

Johann Zarco can wrap up the Moto2 title this weekend at Aragon and it could take only a top finish to do so. The Frenchman holds a 93 point lead over Tito Rabat and with five races remaining he needs to be 100 points clear of the Spaniard when we leave Aragon to be the first Frenchman since Mike di Meglio to win a Grand Prix title.

Zarco has dominated the season and is on a three race winning run and has finished on the podium at every race this year with the exception of Qatar when a mechanical problem left him off the rostrum. Zarco has finished on the podium at Aragon twice, once in Moto2 and once in 125s.

With the title so close to secured Zarco is on the verge of becoming the sixth Moto2 champion and he will, like Tito Rabat, defend his title next year having said that he has turned down MotoGP opportunities to wait for the right team to move to the premier class with.
