Rabat wins and Lowes on podium after Aragon thriller

Tito Rabat has held off the advances of Alex Rins to take an impressive race victory at Motorland Aragon, going right down to the line with his fellow Spaniard in the shortened Moto2 race.

The race was originally red flagged with Rins in the lead, after a collision between Dominique Aegerter and Xavier Simeon – and it was instead Rabat who was able to take the advantage from the restart.

That left the two to scrap for the lead all race long, with a number of last lap moves from Rins unable to stick, allowing reigning champion Rabat the win by only 0.096.

Sam Lowes was the third man home on the Speed-Up bike, taking a lonely finish five seconds behind the leaders and seven clear of Jonas Folger, ahead of Thomas Luthi and champion-elect Johann Zarco.
