MotoGP: Rossi looking to build on Mugello speed

Valentino Rossi is looking to build on the speed that saw him in contention for a race win at Mugello when the 2016 MotoGP championship resumes this weekend at Catalunya.

Only halted by an engine failure while pushing teammate Jorge Lorenzo for the win, Rossi says that they now need to look at the positives and build on the pace they displayed before the engine problem left him despairing.

“I think that I can have a good potential to do a good race. I‘m coming to Spain with the knowledge that I‘m able to be fast, but also with regret for what would have been a great race at Mugello. The most important thing is that we were very fast on Sunday thanks to the work we did during the weekend.

“In Barcelona we have to work in the same way and get ready to race, but the Catalunya Grand Prix is held at one of my favourite tracks. I like the circuit a lot as well as the atmosphere.”

Yamaha have remained tight-lipped as to the source of the failures of both Rossi and Lorenzo’s engines in Mugello, but stressed after the last round that they would have a solution in place for this weekend.
