Lowes blitzes opposition to finish Moto2 test top

Federal oil Gresini Kalex rider Sam Lowes has blitzed his opposition with a last minute lap to finish the final test of the winter 0.2 faster than runner-up Thomas Luthi.

Finishing the test with the fastest lap of the three days – and immediately following it up with a small fall – Lowes was left ecstatic after making strong progress through the three days.

Jonas Folger was third behind Luthi, one of a handful of riders to dip below the 2:00 mark into the 1:59s in the very closing stages of the final session.

Alex Rins was fourth, after a relaxed test for the Spaniard, heading Lorenzo Baldassarri and Takaaki Nakagami, while Sandro Cortese took the second Dynavolt bike to seventh ahead of reigning world champion Johann Zarco.

The younger of the Marquez brothers Alex was ninth, with Franco Morbidelli rounding out the top ten and just pushing out reigning Moto3 world champion Danny Kent to eleventh on the Leopard Racing bike.
