Moto2: Lowes goes even faster at Aragon test

Aragon Moto2 race winner Sam Lowes has come away from the Spanish circuit surprised to find even more pace in Monday’s post-race test, going even faster than he did enroute to pole position and an easy win.

Making the most of yet more parts from suspension partner Ohilins at the one-day outing, he was surprised by the outcome.

“It was a very positive test because we managed to further improve our race pace from yesterday: honestly I didn’t expect it, because it was already very strong! In addition, we also improved our fastest lap time of the weekend.

“The team did a great job as always, and the new parts from Ohlins gave good results, so we will use them directly in the next Grand Prix in Japan. I’m very happy, it’s been a great weekend and I’m looking forward to race at Motegi.”

And, having taken valuable points out of championship leader Johann Zarco and Alex Rins at the race, the Federal Oil Gresini rider says the title race is back on.

“We worked really hard all weekend, making long runs in every practice session, so I was really confident for the race. That’s why I tried to get to the front as soon as possible and make a god rhythm. Once I had a bit of a gap I just tried to relax and keep my pace. This makes a change compared to the last few races, we have shown a good level of competitiveness and it’s nice.

“Now we are 40 points behind the lead in the Championship, so everything can happen and for sure we won’t give up. I feel good on the bike and we will take this confidence to Japan, where we will do our best!”
