Moto2: Lowes to return to series with Interwetten squad in 2018

Sam Lowes will return to the Moto2 series in 2018 after signing a deal to replace title contender Tom Luthi at the Swiss team for next season, as he sets out to win the championship in the middleweight class after a difficult season in MotoGP.

Lowes has been in talks with a number of Moto2 teams since he was released by current squad Aprilia two weeks ago, with Forward Racing and the Pons squad also keen to get the former World Supersport champion’s name on paper.

But Lowes confirmed just before the start of action at today’s British Grand Prix that he will instead link up with the Swiss team for 2018 – and team boss Fred Corminboeuf says that he’s going to be the perfect addition to the team.

“It looks really interesting and we’re really really happy to have signed him. E’s a great kid, a great rider, and he’s a fighter – and we like fighters. We’re a small family team, and he’ll fit inside my team perfectly.”
