MotoGP: Dovizioso doubles up in Barcelona

1 of 1

Andrea Dovizioso has delivered a spectacular performance in the Catalan Grand Prix to take his second win in a week, adding to his victory last time out in Mugello by taking the victory from Marc Marquez and Dani Pedrosa at the Montmelò circuit.

The early leader was once again Jorge Lorenzo on the other Ducati machine, but he dropped back as first the Honda duo and then Dovizioso scythed their way forwards, with the Italian eventually taking control to beat Marquez to the flag by a huge three and a half seconds.

Lorenzo dropped back as far as eighth, but was able to rally back in the final stages of the race to a strong fourth, ahead of the Tech 3 Yamaha duo of Johann Zarco and Jonas Folger, with Mugello podium finisher Danilo Petrucci crashing out of the battle with only a few laps to go.

Alvaro Bautista had another strong ride to seventh, ahead of Valentino Rossi, Hector Barbera and Maverick Viñales, bringing to an end a difficult weekend for the factory Movistar Yamaha duo.

Cal Crutchlow was the best of the Brits in 11th, with Scott Redding 13th, Sam Lowes 19th and Bradley Smith a non-starter after injuring his finger in yesterday’s free practice four.
