MotoGP: Provisional 2018 calendar announced

1 of 1

The provisional 2018 MotoGP calendar has been released, as the series expands to 19 rounds with the addition of a trip to Thailand for the first time. However, the calendar doesn’t answer the biggest question for many British fans, with a date set for the British Grand Prix but still no circuit confirmed as Donington and Silverstone both battle to host the race.

The Thai round of the championship becomes the first of the traditional flyaway trip, coming at the start of October before the series takes a week off and then heads into the three-week back-to-back races of Japan, Australia and Malaysia.

The series retains its traditional Qatari opening round, moving forward a week to accommodate the new round, while the last race of the year at Valencia’s Ricardo Tormo circuit also moves back a week.
