Moto3: Martin matches pole record in Mugello

1 of 1

Jorge Martin has matched Alex Rins’ record for Moto3 pole positions by taking the 13th of his career at Mugello today, to line up on the front row of the grid for tomorrow’s Italian Grand Prix. The Gresini Honda rider finished the day 0.2 ahead of the Japanese duo of Tatsuki Suzuki and Ayumu Sasaki.

Martin’s championship rival Aron Canet will start in fourth, ahead of an Italian trio of Marco Bezzecchi, Fabio Di Giannantonio and Niccolo Antonelli, with Adam Norrodin, Marcos Ramirez and Kaito Toba rounding out the top ten.

However, despite strong pace throughout the weekend it was a disappointing day for Brit John McPhee, with the Scottish rider lining up for tomorrow’s race in 19th.
