MotoGP: Lorenzo to replace Pedrosa at Honda?

1 of 1

Italian Grand Prix winner looks Jorge Lorenzo set to make a huge shift for the 2019 MotoGP season, leaving the factory Ducati team only 48 hours after taking his first win for the Italian manufacturer. Honda confirmed this morning that Dani Pedrosa would leave them after 13 seasons, opening the way for his fellow Spaniard to replace him.

The deal marks the third manufacturer that Lorenzo has been linked to in recent weeks, with talk first tying him to the factory Suzuki ride that seems to have gone to Joan Mir and then to a satellite Yamaha project sponsored by Malaysian oil giant Petronas.

However, there will be many questioning the five-time world champion’s logic should he sign with Honda. Suffering through a difficult season and a half with the Ducati thanks to the nature of the bike, he’s unlikely to find the Honda RC213V any easier to ride if the deal comes together.
