Britain’s Sam Lowes has signed to ride for the Estrella Galicia Marc VDS Moto2 squad in 2020. The 28 year old will join current Moto2 series leader Alex Marquez in what is the most successful Moto2 team in history.
Lowes a former World Supersport champion and MotoGP rider is one of the most experienced riders in the Moto2 paddock having secured 11 podiums including three wins.
He said: “I am very happy and grateful to have the opportunity to join what I consider to be the best Moto2 team. Alex Márquez is doing a great job this year and having him as a team-mate will allow me to learn a lot from him. I have gone through some difficult times throughout my career and I think my time has finally come. I'm really looking forward to working with everyone on the team. It's a dream come true and I will do everything in my power to return the confidence placed in me in the form of great results.”
Lowes, who currently rides for the Federal Oils backed Gresini team will be back in action next weekend when the MotoGP series heads to Misano for round 13 of the championship.
