1 of 1

2023 MotoGP pre-season testing will take place at Sepang and Portimao in February and March ahead of the new season.

Sepang will host the first Shakedown Test – for rookies and test riders – on February 5-7, before the rest of the premier class grid joins them for a three-day official test on February 10-12.

Portimao, which will host round one of the 2023 season, will then host a two-day official test on March 11-12, as well as the official Moto2 and Moto3 test on March 17.

Schedule

Shakedown Test: 5th – 7th February
Sepang Test: 10th – 12th February
Portimao Test: 11th – 12th March

The pre-season Moto2™ and Moto3™ test will also take place at Portimão.

Moto2 and Moto3 Test: 17th – 19th March

Set up takes place on the two days preceding the MotoGP™ tests and the shakedown, and on the day before the Moto2 and Moto3 test.

The opening round of the 2023 MotoGP season takes place at Portimao on March 24-26. It’s the first time a European circuit has hosted the first round since 2006 at Jerez, however the Spanish circuit did host the first MotoGP race of 2020 due to the restrictions in place in Qatar.

The Moto2 and Moto3 riders were already at Losail and were able to race, but the MotoGP teams were prevented from travelling to the country due to Covid-19.

Qatar, host of round one since 2007, is undergoing circuit and facility upgrades following the return of Formula One.

Meanwhile, the British Grand Prix has been moved forward a week and will take place on August 4-6. For the first time since 2012, MotoGP will use the Wing Paddock Complex, rather than the older Copse paddock.
