MotoGP Silverstone: Memorabilia auction headlines 2022 Day of Champions event

1 of 2

The MotoGP Memorabilia Auction will once again headline the Day of Champions event at Silverstone on Thursday (August 4) ahead of the British Grand Prix.

The traditional day, run by the Two Wheels for Like charity, was cancelled in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic and was forced to adapt its schedule in 2021 to adhere to the restrictions in place at that time. However, this year’s event is back to full force.

Headlining this year’s auction is the signed chequered flag which brought an end to the final race of Valentino Rossi’s illustrious career at Valencia last season. The flag has also been signed by Brazilian football legend Ronaldo, who waved the flag to close out his friend’s two-wheeled racing career. The flag comes with a certificate of authenticity.

Other highlights of this year’s auction include:

  • Signed Kenny Roberts helmet that he wore at the 2022 Goodwood Festival of Speed.
  • Colin Edwards ‘Texas Tornado’ Bootcamp experience.
  • Ducati MotoX2 two-seater MotoGP experience ride for Friday.
  • Signed Jack Miller boots.
  • Signed ‘Pecco’ Bagnaia gloves.
  • A trophy made from parts from one of Jake Dixon’s race engines. This will be a crank assembly with the three con rods and pistons mounted in engine orientation, on a billet aluminium plinth. This will come with a letter of authenticity from Triumph.
  • VIP Exclusive Tour at the Triumph Factory Visitor Experience, for 10 people. This will take place at a time to be agreed when the experience is closed to the public and will include access to areas not on the normal factory tour.
  • Signed Miguel Oliveira gloves.
  • Signed Brad Binder boots.
  • Grid access experiences.

All of the money raised during the Day of Champions event goes to life-saving programmes in some of the poorest and most remote areas of Africa thanks to the work of the Two Wheels for Life charity’s partner, Riders for Health.

Motorcyclists have the option to join in the on-track action by taking part in the Day of Champions ride-in, led by Niall Mackenzie and Randy Mamola. This includes two laps of the Silverstone circuit and paddock access.

There will be entertainment throughout the day, including rider interviews, a pitlane walk and live music.

General admission tickets are £25 (pre-booked) or £30 on the day – under 14s go free. For paddock entry, tickets cost £65 (under 13s £20, under 5s Free).
