Romano Fenati has been suspended by the Team Sky VR46 KTM squad on the eve of tomorrow’s Austrian Grand Prix, with the squad citing ‘repeated behaviour not in line with the disciplinary rules of the team.’

The shock news comes on the eve of the race, with paddock speculation being that the news could well affect the Italian’s entire future with Valentino Rossi’s outfit. The team has already confirmed plans to move the VR46 Academy member to Moto2 next year, in a team built around him.

It remains to be seen how the news will affect his more immediate future, however, with the team reported to be considering what action to take ahead of next weekend’s back-to-back round at Brno.

The full text of the statement from the team states:

Following repeated behavior not in line with the disciplinary rules of a Team – the rider Romano Fenati has been suspended. He will not be on the starting grid of the Austrian Grand Prix.
