Moto3: McPhee geared up for Catalunya after testing success

Scotsman John McPhee says he’s geared up for a more successful weekend at Barcelona’s Montmelò circuit, after enjoying a successful test following the last round of the Moto3 championship at Mugello.

Struggling with both gearbox and engine power issues on the chronically slow Peugeot-branded Mahindra, McPhee has had a difficult start to the year – but is sounding more confident ahead of his second home round of the year.

“Thanks to the test after the Mugello race I’m feeling more positive because I felt we’ve made some positive steps there. We came away in a good direction overall. In addition, Barcelona almost feels like a home race for me because I spend all the pre-season preparing for the year in and around Girona, not so far from the Montmelò circuit.

“I like this track a lot, partly due to the fact that I’ve had to fight for some good results here in the past. I think it’s time to press the reset button and focus on some good results. But most important is to try to enjoy the weekend in the best way possible.”
